The tenure of the current Chairmen and Councillors of the 34 local governments will expire in April this year, and the Directors of Administration and Finance (DAF) of the local councils will be expected to take over pending the conduct of the elections.

It will be recalled that, from the inception of his administration, the state governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has uttered that he would not follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Aminu Bello Masari, who worked with caretaker chairmen until, towards the end of his eight-year tenure, he conducted the LG elections.
